Bulldozer fx 8120 mobo bundle

hey guys,

I am currently building a budget gaming machine and I had a question or two.

1) Microcenter has a deal where if you buy a new amd bulldozer you get a motherboard free or really cheap. Is this a good deal?

2) If this is not a good deal, what would be a good cpu and motherboard that would be around the same price?

3) If this is a good deal, which mobo should i get with it?

EDIT: I probably should have put in what i want to play. I play a lot of source games and other mmo's like grand chase and need for speed world. I currently have an amd Athlon 64 x2 5000+ without a gpu.

Microcenter almost always has free motherboard deals, the specific motherboards and cpu models available change but they've consistently got them every month for a good 2 years now.

With that said, the FX processors really aren't that good for gaming.

"With the sub-$100 Pentiums performing so well, Intel's $125 Core i3-2100 easily beats more expensive Phenom II and FX models. And the $190 Core i5-2400 dominates the sub-$200 landscape without challenge, really. As such, we're almost-shockingly left without an AMD CPU to recommend at any price point." the i5+$40 off a mobo is an exceptionally better performing combo for only $50ish more. That deal was really good when they were running it with 1090/1100Ts for $180 - not worth it for the FX processors.

I still have not figured out how microcenter has such low prices. This will be my first time buying from them considering this is my first build, but i haven't heard any negative reviews, actually most of them i have heard are extremely positive.
