iBuyPower has a sale right now that is giving free cpu upgrades from the i5 2500k to 2550k. I haven't heard anything good or bad about the 2550k but only good reviews of the 2500k... I mean it's a free upgrade but is it worth it?

The plan is:

Intel® Core™ i5-2550K Processor (4x 3.40GHz/6MB L3 Cache)

8 GB [4 GB X2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - FREE Upgrade to Corsair XMS3 )

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 - 1.2GB - EVGA Superclocked - Core: 797MHz

Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 -- Lucid Virtu Technology

750 Watt - Thermaltake TR2 TRX-750M - Free Upgrade to 850 Watt W0319RU

120 GB ADATA S510 SSD

First Custom PC, so any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The 2550K is just the newer updated version of the 2500K. It is 100Mhz faster and should overclock as well if not better than the 2500K.

Do whatever you have to do to not get a Thermaltake TR2 750w PSU. It is kill your computer bad. Avoid Thermaltake all together if you can but especially the TR 2.

That was what I was hoping to hear, and thanks for the advice on the Power Supply, I was advised to go with something at least better than the stock options but I will avoid that specific PS.

Thanks again.

And you reasoning behind not moving to the newer chip that is faster and likely to overclock higher is?
