Upgrading from Phenom 2 x6 1090T to i5 2500k (worth it?)

Really would like some input. I'm going to upgrade some time this year, and I'm wondering what I should upgrade to (currently have an AMD Phenom 2 x6 1090T BE running at stock).

the performance increase you will get is not IMO worth the ~$300 cost

i remember having to spend $300 to get ANY performance increase amd K5-133 to P-233MMX . .LOL
