Hi, I have a Compaq Laptop O/S Vista Home Basic running Office Proffessional 2003, a couple of weeks ago I started getting "The printer has not yet responded, but the MS office program may be able to proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the printer?" error message, I have tried removing normal.dot, removing office and re-installing and removing printer and re-installing, printer is an Epson SX115 and is attached via usb port to my laptop. Also tried printing to my father in laws Epson SX210 via USB and still get the same error. Only get error in word all other apps print perfectly. Can anyone help, I have been trawling the internet forums for the last two weeks and tried everything they have come up with. Thanks in anticipation

Is the printer set as Default and showing as such in Word's File>Print menu as the first choice?

The printer is set as default, and it shows in File > print, and it is any document in Word, even new ones. Tried deleting normal.dot last night then uninstalled office - robooted and re-installed office, still got same problem.

If you clipboard the entire content of a Word document and paste it into Wordpad, does it print alright?

My only other shot is if it's a Lexmark and doesn't have its bidirectional support option ticked - that could tick Word off a bit.

Printer is an Epson SX115 or Epson SX210, prints ok from everything else, just word with the problem.

It is in my printer list but my Epson is set as the default printer. When selecting this as the default and then going into word when I do file print and then try to change it to my Epson I get the printer has not responded error. Swaps between other printers fine, and prints to other printers fine, I brought it into work last week and installed on of my work printers via usb and this was fine. I have tried downloading the print driver from Epson but no joy, someone has told me that it could be an update that has automatically downloaded, it was suggested I uninstall all updates. Long winded process and I have started to remove them, and to be honest I still get the message when I print but only takes 4 attempts instead of the usual 15, does this make any sense to you?

Same problem here. I came across one forum with a post that said it was due to a corrupted font in windows/fonts folder claiming that deleting all fonts and replacing from another xp machine didthe trick. I am reluctant to try as I am working on the problem computer remotely (my sister's 'puter 1000 mi from here) and don't want to cause a problem for whichshe may not be able to help me fix... like crashing windows altogether. If someone tries it here, please post result. LD from Colorado, USA

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

You've rekindled a very old thread which eth Moderators may close down so it's as well to start a new one. I don't think, however, that your rumoured theory holds water but to check if it does, ask your sister to print some bog-standard Arial 10Pt text from a simply Notepad document and see if that works.

If it fails, and I suspect it will, the problem isn't fonts. Have you tried wiping the printer drivers and reinstalling? Does she have a CD?
