Windows 7 can't find SATA hard drive

I've got a new computer (which is still a couple of years old) and I put my SATA hard drive into it. When I try to install Windows 7, I can't because my hard drive isn't on the list. It is on the list in BIOS, but Window somehow can't find it. While searching for a solution on the internet I tryed multiple ways to solve it. Most people say I have to change the SATA option from AHCI to IDE and Enhanced, but those options are not available. The only thing under SATA Operation Mode is RAID and nonRAID,and it doesn't work either way. What should I do?

We need more info! First: brand and model of you mobo or PC. Second: what do you mean by "it is not on the list"? Have you been to the advanced disk options in setup? If the disk is formated and has no unallocated space, you need to delete a partition first.
