So my friends existing motherboard has died and is looking at buying a new motherboard and ram, just wondering if this motherboard and ram config will work. Thinking between motherboard is a asrock G41M-VS3 http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=g41m-vs3 or ASUS P5G41T-M LX http://www.asus.com.au/Motherboard [...] M_LX/#CPUS both say they support ddr3 1333(oc). Does this mean he can just get any LGA775 supportable ram at a 1333mhz.

Yes, all RAM modules are simliar except for their reliability. All DDR3 1333Mhz RAM will work, but you'll need to OC the motherboard before it'll work at 1333Mhz

Not true. A G41 chipset can run at a 333 MHz FSB freq (DDR2 memory clock of 667 MHz or DDR3 mem clock of 1333 MHz) without overclocking. They will not go much higher though. Upper FSB limit is about 340 - 360 MHz depending on the sample.

That is why they make such poor overclockers with CPU's with a 333 MHz FSB freq.
