When try to start my computor it stay at the starting windows page and will beep constantly until i turn it off. When I turn it on again it turn on normally but slower since I first got the computor. Also sometimes the curser will go down to the bottom of a page and will not let me move it.

Hello HRLF15;

What is the beep pattern?
That 'beep code' is trying to tell you something.

Best to list your parts - especially the motherboard.

howdy hrlf15,

there seems to be about 10 different models of the L740, some are amd and some are sandy bridge (the motherboard/cpu type.) though WR2 most likely knows much more than i do deciphering post codes, it may help him to know a little more; such as the "platform".

do any of these look familiar or do you see them on a sticker (maybe somewhere on the bottom?)

AMD:
L745D-S4230 L745D-S4214 L745D-S4350

INTEL (sandy bridge pentium/i3/5 series cpu)
L745-S4310 L745-S4235 L745-S4355 L745-S4126 L740-ST6N01 L745-S4130 L740-ST5N02

having an i3 leaves:
L745-S4310 L745-S4355 L745-S4130 L740-ST5N02 L740-ST6N01

you may need to remove the battery to see a sticker inside the bottom that lists the model number. anything even a serial number might help.

without knowing, any advice given could lead to your laptop no longer functional.

ok maybe a work around if you can't find the model number, though that is
very important:

go to CONTROL PANEL, view by large or small icon (that is in the upper right corner of the box) and then click on SYSTEM. you will see what processor you have and how much RAM. then click on MY COMPUTER and see how big DISK C: is.

knowing what processor, how much ram and how big your hard drive is will help to find what model you have listed here:
