ASUS M5A78L-M LX and Bulldozer FX-8?

I would like to upgrade my CPU but don't yet have enough money to get a motherboard too. I was wondering if I would be able to use my current ASUS M5A78L-M LX with a AMD Bulldozer FX-8 8150. Is this possible? I know the motherboard is AM3+ support. I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks
Gus

  1. Yes, it will work. You may need to update your BIOS first though.

itll be somewhat difficult though, would have to update it while using an older cpu, as the FX cpus require updated bios to even boot up. i suggest just upgradng if you dont have an older cpu to do it with.

At the moment I'm running an Athlon 640 so I should be able to do it.
