Unigine Tropics Comparison
Hello all-
I am curious to see how my rig and others peoples rigs score on a free benchmark that is easily accessible and easy to use not to mention a small file size.
I am curious to see how different TOMs community members rigs are running....
....and I am therefore suggesting that we all do a quick Unigine Tropics run to see how our rigs perform comparatively across different platforms, etc...
please post your full specs and run Unigine Tropics 1.3 on the following settings so there is no discrepancy, also I make the assumption that most are using 1080p:
API: DX11, Stereo 3D: Disabled, Ambient Occlusion:yes, Reflection: yes, Shaders: High, Anisotropy: 16, Anti-aliasing: 4x, Full Screen: Yes, Textures: High... Resolution: 1080p...
Here are specs:
PII X4 955 @ 4.0 GHZ | ASUS GTX 560ti Direct CU II | MSI 890GXM-G65 | CM Storm Scout | 8 GB Corsair DDR3 1600 | CM Hyper 212+ | XFX XXX BE 650W PSU | Crucial M4 (OS/APPS) WDC Black (Steam) | Hitatchi 1 TB (storage) | Enermax 120mm (5)|Logitech G110/ Razer Death Adder!
Here are my scores to start it off::
composite score: 1552 max: 100.8 min: 35.5 average: 61.6
thanks to anyone who participates... I look forward to seeing different mix mashes of hardware tearing it up!
Hi there i will post some benchies for your examination once unigene is installed
sounds good^
ok 1574 was my score with 35.5 min and 109max average 77fps
i5 2500k/ noctua NH-U9BSE2/ MSI p67a-gd53/GTX 480 undervolted/ silverstone strider
1000 watt/ 8gb g-skill ripjaws x/xigmatek utgaurd/2x 1tb samsung sp f3 in RAID 0/logitech G110/AOC 22" LCD 2MS
cool thanks for the submission
seems a crap score tbh from my system
yeah the benchmark likely doesnt capture the true performance of your system but its free and easy so oh well..
also I have a 1ghz oc on the core of my 560ti
my 480 dont like anything above 800mhz on core....
yeah the oc ability of my ti is actually remarkable, stock 830 oc 1000 of course there is voltage involved but it runs cool and relatively quiet for the most part
What settings are you guys running at???

That's SLI GTX 465s at 780 clock 1780 mem, I can run them at 850 but the fan noise scares me
1920x1080 with 4xaa and maxxed everything else without 3d

Something is wierd, my score shouldn't be that high compared to you guys, 1080p shouldn't make that big a difference should it? I'm going to have to swap monitors out now.....
Oh and full system is Q9550, MSI SLI-FI 750i board, 4GB corsiar DDR2 800, 1TB spinpoint F3, Antec TP750 blue, cheap black case (HEC blitz black or somecrap), G15 keyboard, G500 mouse, 1680x1050 ViewSonic 3D monitor, almost forgot SLI GTX 465s at 780core 1780mem.
^sounds good let us know
At 1080p:
FPS:102.4
Scores:2579
Min FPS:65.1
Max FPS:161.1
^ you are running sli 465s right?
it seems like the benchmark is not very demanding on the cpu ...
Definately not, unigine is all about the GPUs.
The q9550 is underated though, people crap on the 775 platform in general because it's so old, but newer parts havn't been a huge performance leap, just much more efficient.
yeah the Q2C with a good clock is a strong cpu no doubt pretty much on par with a 955 as far as im concerned

I'll assume by your score you didn't use the same settings the OP posted. He turn up a few settings beyond default, that or our systems have issues.
With the OP settings I got:
FPS: 67.6
Scores: 1702
Min FPS: 33.0
Max FPS: 120.4
Render: direct3d11
Mode: 1920x1080 4xAA fullscreen
Shaders: high
Textures: high
Filter: trilinear
Anisotropy:16x
Occlusion: enabled
Reflection: enabled
Refraction: enabled
Volumetric:enabled
edit: Something is wrong here. I have just realized that my system is acting like V-sync is forced on, even though the program is set to off, and my Nvidia control panel has it off. However, much of the benchmark it is pinned at 120 FPS (my monitor's refresh).
Has anyone else noticed their systems being forced to cap the FPS at 120 or their monitors refresh rate? I cannot seem to figure out why it will not allow more than 120 FPS and it is stuck at that FPS for long stretches, so I'm fairly certain it's acting like vsync is on.

I posted all the settings in the link, the only difference in the last run was the resolution I ran it at 1080p on my Asus VH 232, as far as I can tell I have everything maxed out except aa which is at 4x. I don't know what the deal is I would expect your score to be alot higher, unigine usually scales very well in SLI, I also get 70 fps in heaven.
And no my system is not forced to cap at 120 as you can see from the scores I posted.

very strange but I cant say personally bc im nowhere near that performance
There might be some real world programs where a single 560ti beats 2 GTX 465s but in a benchmark with good SLI optimization it's not going to come close. bystander's score should be much higher though I'm guessing SLI isn't working.
I just connected to another monitor, one that is not a 3D monitor, and it no longer capped me at 120 FPS and my score went up.
FPS: 80.4
Scores: 2026
Min FPS: 36.8
Max FPS: 150.1
I have 0 overclock on the 470's, so that would explain any gap between our scores.
I also have found that with x4 AA that there are these faint horizontal strips across the screen. It goes away with AA off.
I don't know something still seems off, no matter what the overclock I dont think 465s should be 20% faster than 470s. Are you sure both GPU's are being used? Afterburner shows over 90% usage on both cars pretty constantly for me during the benchmark.
Yes, SLI is enabled and the difference between 465's and 470's are very small, a strong overclock would definitely overtake stock 470's (I do not overclock to keep the noise levels down). They are clocked at 607mhz. Many people take 470's up near 900. That would make a huge performance boost, but I really hate that kind of noise.

What are your 465's clocked too?
780 core 1780 mem right now.
That would explain it. If the 470's weren't so damned loud, I'd overclock them as I know they are able to be overclocked well. I just can't stand the noise.
try it with the unigine heaven benchmark ver 2.5 and let see the results
Can you give me a link? I didn't find older versions on the unigine site.

and kills my gtx 480 at 800core.....

got it...
give me a day to get my systems updated, right now both of MY units are running on bare necessities.
I had to cannibalize mine to get my sister's up and running..
I hate family.
I'll run it on the i5-760 and the 955BE on the new 990XA board..
384-bit - should I flash them a pic of my new little buddy.?
sounds good, looks like you have a certified technician that is all paws
excuse the sleeping dog...
he's suppose to be guarding the Bulldozer but there's not need for that just yet...
its funny my animals (2 cats) are very attracted to wires and electronics lol
mine not so much, too big for that.
but riding lawnmowers - they bite the moving tire and lift it off the ground, leaf blowers, vacuum cleaner and water hoses to pools; watch out..
I have a mouse in the house and when they chase it it's like an earthquake, they even moved the oven in the kitchen....
hey guys,
i ran a 1771
34.3 min

nice results, as far as I can tell the gtx 580 is only getting marginally better results then my gtx 560ti with its oc... I know its a benchmark but is that really that far off from most games performance? likely not, this brings me to my point that for a single gpu the best bang for your buck is near the gtx 560ti/ 6950 range imho... the gpu landscape will change of course with the new released that are down the road so we will have to see on that.
Of course a dual gpu solution will throw all that logic out the window...
| recon-uk wrote : lol post pics all you want mal you dont need my permission |
yeah go for it I want to see them chasing the lawnmower
do those specs show in anyway that my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu? or is that an invalid assessment as this benchmark is for graphics?
