I have 8gb of RAM but only 1gb is usable

I have 8gb of RAM, but only 1gb is usable, can anyone help me? I am running a 64 bit Operating System, 2 (4gb sticks.) I have no idea what to do, I've reinstalled the RAM a couple times...

Go into your BIOS and there should be options under "Peripherals" or something similar , keep browsing around and you should be able to find it and tweak the speed's it run's at or activate different memory channels.
