Hey guys, made a thread a couple of days ago about updrading my current system for an Intel based one but considering that the updrage would've been marginal at best I decided to just wait for Ivy/7k series. Anyways, I'm going to sell this current system (CPU, MB, Memory, PSU) to some friend but keep my GPU (ATI 5850) until the new 7k series come out. The Ivy reviews I've seen so far haven't really impressed me and won't come out until spring 2012 so I'll probably go for a 2500k and OC it the *** out of it.

Current system

AMD Phenom X4 955BE at 3.6
Asus M4A79XTD EVO
4gb G.skill ram
Sapphire 5850
CM HAF 922 case
OCZ 600W PSU (cables were way too short so that's why I'm getting a new one)
24 inch monitor
500gb SATA2 HD

Why thinking of getting:

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost)
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R1
Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM

So what do you guys think, will I see a big updrage going from a 3.6ghz 955BE to a 4k+ 2500k? The AMD 7k series should come out before the end of the year right?

As always, any input is appreciated!
Thanks

I did a very similar move and saw a massive increase in performance.

This is just my speculation, but you're wise to wait until the next gen graphic cards come out. The 6000 series is hotter and louder and only significantly improve on crossfire perf which doesn't affect you.

Good plan, your build looks good. Love the power supply. I urge you to get a 120GB SSD tho, I don't see how anybody can make do with 60GB if they install applications (not games) on it.

Not sure if I'm going to SLI tbh, most likely not, would the Corsair TX650 V2 be a better choice?

Well from I read Ivy aren't going that great of an improvement and are probably going to be very expensive and I hate waiting :(

I think that SSD used to have some firmware issues, but they're all sorted out now. If the price is right, go for it! Personally, I'm more concerned with how much capacity the SSD has, since you will be using as much as you can get. The difference between even the fastest HDD and an SSD is such that it almost doesn't matter which SSD you get. There are no more first or second generation SSD sold today (that I know of) so you're safe buying just about anything.
