DVI Connector Forms

Hello,
Are there two forms of connectors for DVI? Is one called DVI I and the other called DVI II?

Single link and dual link

I know there is DVI-I DVI-D and then there is single and dual link for each. Also a DVI-A but I dont even know what it does. The Dual link chords seem to have all the prongs where as the Single do not, above that im really new to computers and cant tell you the real difference sorry.
