Hello,

all my games are crashing, im using asus gtx 580 direct cuii and corsair ax850 psu. rig is fairly new.

playing fear 3 and metro 2033, both game crashing - blackscreen and or sometimes just minimize itself - on low video settings worst when playing on high video settings.

one more thing, when i amp up the volt in my gpu the low video setting is working fine but still crash when on high settings.

have you connected the correct 6 and 8 pin pcie connectors to your card and are properly inserted?

hi thanks for the reply and yes i've tried that already. the gpu wont work if the pcie is not plugged properly.

also a warning starts showing when the game crashes - display driver stopped responding

Reply to uphigh016

ok go and download MSI afterburner.
add .25mv of voltage to the card and try running your games again.

yup. dowloaded msi after burner.. still the same, game crashing and this time i got a blue screen.

are you saying that its all in the voltage? souldn't my graphics card be able to play all demanding games in stock setup without overclocking it....

just now while im writing this a got a warning saying "nividia driver stopped responding" - something like that.

Reply to uphigh016

as i said adjust the voltage up by .25mv until stable in games.
this happens sometimes and is not a huge deal.

Reply to recon-uk

core voltage is at max, 1150mv, and games still crashing even at low video settings. also tried playing movies to see if its the games' fault but same thing happens, the movie stops playing and crash.

Reply to uphigh016

woah no need to pump it to the max.
return it to stock values.

also tried that last night, didn't work for me. it will just say "nvidia driver stopped responding and has recovered" and if i continue on playing.. BOOM ---- blue screen of death.

oh. did i mention i'm a total noob in overclocking... on that note, how do i set my ram to 1600mhz?

Reply to uphigh016

ok set the ram in the bios to 1600mhz and check your physicall ram dimms for their correct voltage.

stock value so i'm guessing 1.5v

sorry... like i said i dont know anything about overclocking... i was hoping to learn more with my rig but it started crashing before i can do anything (play games)

Reply to uphigh016

this sounds like a memory issue.
however boot into the bios and set your ram to 1600mhz.

384 bit i think theres some problem with the connection of GFX to mobo.i experienced
the same problem with gtx 8800 ultra.i unpluged the card and than repluged it.the problem was solved.

Reply to hellfire24

@ 384-bit i adjusted the mem frequency to 1648mhz, theres no exact value of 1600mhz and the dram voltage to 1.562v... still crashing

@helljire24 tried that already thats my first assumption as well but still the same

Reply to uphigh016

put the dram voltage to 1.65volts. and retry

Do you have crashes in FEAR3 with those settings of the GTX580:

Core clock: 772MHz

Shader clock: 1544MHz

Memory clock: 2004MHz (effective 4008MHz)

Core vlotage: 1.013V

Reply to FunSurfer

working fine for now tested it with fear 3 and sanctum 3d movie, ill update you if something happens again. last question though, how is the memory and gpu related in away that it affected my graphics?

Reply to uphigh016

it has nothing to do with your gpu ;)
i simply narrowed it down to the main cause of instability.
