My question is: should I upgrade my RAM; or buy a the same set again for my other two slots?
G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz Ripjaws
I bought the ram in 2010
I have about £100 to spend.

My other specs:
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5
AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz Socket AM3 6MB L3 Cache
Radeon HD 5850 (cant remember the make, perhaps HIS, but not stock)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1 or 2 TB

I'm open to being told to spend my money elsewhere..I generally game (BF3, Witcher2, Fallout3, DragonAge, Deadspace, Baldur's gate) and get video and pictures off my camcorder and onto the computer.

Yes.

You don't want to clock down the existing ram you have, and you don't need to add better ram than your system will use with what you have.

Same voltage, same latencies, same speed. If you can get the same brand that's a bonus, but should not be necessary.

The easiest way is to use a GSkill part/model # like this example: F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
Look on one of your ram dimms and get the number and buy that.
