Ripjaw and Sniper G.Skill RAM Compatability?

Hey guys, I ordered 2x4GB Ripjaw DDR3 1600 RAM for my desktop, but since then I've also come into posession of 8 gigabytes of Sniper RAM as well. RAM is one thing I am pretty unfamilliar with mixing RAM at all. Is it possible to use these two kits together to get 16gb of RAM without having major instability? It isn't really a big deal, but I'd hate to just have 8 gigs of RAM sitting around with no use.
