I love my nvidia MMX 200 geforce 2 32MB pci card. that said it wont do well with autocad...

you can go and buy a used MB for cheap on craigs list or ebay, somthing liek this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138302

you can use this and buy a new AGP video card for such work. im not sure if its better getting a new pci card or an older high end pci card but this is a cheap one on newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161353

other things to look at would be the radeon 9600 series from 2002 ish, they made some pci i believe. any new pci card such as a 5450 will be slower than a 5450 in pci-e even tho they are the same chip.

i would stress that mid range comps are cheap these days. if you have 100 bucks for a video card or 200 for a MB and card then perhaps another 100 and you could have a full blown comp.

i recently built a FSX gaming comp for a friend for just under 300 bucks.
