Loud PC

Hey guys,

I've had this PC for about 1,5 year now. And it's getting louder and louder every day.
So I thought. Hmm.. Let's see what the problem is.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it is the CPU cooler that's making a lot of noise.
When I turn on my PC it immediately makes a lot of noise. And when I play a simple game it goes crazy :/ And it's starting to piss me off..
I'm probably gonna build a new PC by the end of the years/start of 2013. But I would really like to fix this problem.. Because it's getting really annoying now. (It even comes through my headset.. (Logitech G35))

I have a i7 870 Lynnfield with probably a standard CPU cooler. I'm not using Liquid/Watercooling.

I hope you guys can help me with my problem,

blow out the hsf, its probably dusty, so the heat sink is not working well.

what are your temps (speedfan).

you may need to remove and refit the Heatsink fan and use new thermal paste after cleaning off the old with pure/medical/isopropyl alcohol

Well, I've watched some videos and a lot of guys say that the H70 from Corsair is really good (CPU-Cooler) because I don't really feel like cleaning it with alcohol and such.

I have an i7 860 an got rid of the stock cooler as soon as i could = too noisy for me!
You don't have to spend alot to add a cooler that will drop temps and be alot quieter.
Is your case the newer version with a cpu cutout?

It's not a new case. It's about 2 years old now.

Easiest solution without removing the motherboard is to get a CM TX-3.
Adding at least one 120mm front intake fan would also be beneficial.

Okay. I've see some videos about this CPU cooler and most of them says he's quiet. But he makes kind of noise when you play heavy games and such. But I don't care about that.

So, I think I'm gonna buy this CPU cooler. But the only problem is. How do I install it.. There is probably some sort of paste on the old cooler so I have to clean that. But I've never done something like this. (I didn't built this PC myself) so maybe you can help me with this.

The stock cooler and TX-3 are Intel push-pin.

Remove stock cooler.
Clean old paste off cpu with Isopropyl alcohol(99%)is best.
I just use a soft quality paper towel = not the cheap crap!
Apply a pea-sized blob of paste in the middle of cpu.
Mount new cooler.
