I'm using a Pentium D Dual Core processor with an MSI P965 Neo motherboard.

At the moment the whole rigs just being used as a file server and for watching films, does anyone have any advice as to how I could underclock it to get the heat down (at the moment it heats my room up!)

Failing that can anyone recomend a dual/ quad core processor which has good speed scaling features so I can keep it cool when it's not really under load?

Thanks, Ben

Easiest thing is to get a cheap e2160 or similar and replace the Pentium D. As was already said, make sure speedstep is enables. Underclocking is pretty much just the opposite of overclocking. Not hard to figure out. Google if you want info on it.
