No mixer in sound card

Hello,

Gateway 4010, Realtek HD audio, "no sound device installed " error message when I try to use Itunes or WMP. Have uninstalled and reinstalled card in device manager. Have rolled back drivers , updated drivers. Have looked on Gateway website for drivers but nothing that fits my model is listed. When i try to play the audio system sounds such as "asterisk" the play button is greyed out. Did they windows update corrupt my board so that it will not work now no matter what?

Don't worry, i've had this problem before... Make sure that the realtek HD audio (whatever output you have i.e. analog or digital or optical) is set to the device's default. That should fix your problem
