Hello everyone !!!! :hello:
I use this website a lot and have joined this forum just recently.
Hope my problem will be solved here :D

I have a Biostar 945GC-M7 TE mobo.
I want to upgrade my processor from Pentium 4 HT 631 to the best I can.
On this page (http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_...) it is written that my mobo can support upto C2D e7200 but I wasn't able to find this model in local market or even online.
The one that I could find was e7500 at (Rs.6500 or 130$). But this one is not supported by my mobo (acc to the list).
I didn't found a reason why?
I mean both are totally same , the only difference is the frequency.
Here are the links -
e7200

e7500

I really wanna upgrade my CPU.
Please help.

(btw I live in India )

I saw that a E6850 is supported
if you can find a E6850 3.0ghz 1333mhz your performance would be better than the E7500
The E7200 and E7500 are the same series with same specs so usually any board that can take the E7200 will take the E7500
BUT if you can have a shop try out a sample E7500 in the tower that would be best
with a BIOS update it should be possible to use the E7500 but I wouldnt want to bet with your money
so really try to find a E6850
at a higher 1333mhz front bus and basically same ghz it should perform quite well compared to the E7500

Thnx for the reply.
e6xxx series is dead. It is not available anywhere not even second hand.
And the shop owner wouldn't let me try e7500.
Is there any software which can check whether my mobo can support this CPU or not ?
Or any other option which will make sure that e7500 is compatible with this mobo ?

All I can suggest is googing your mobo model and the E7500 and seeing if anybody has had it work
Sorry about that
I really think the E7500 will work especially with a BIOS update
but like I said I wouldnt want to gamble your money on that
check the BIOS updates for your board and see if they added more CPU support
right now I am busy but I can check later for you

When you say not available anywhere, do you mean anywhere local, because I'm sure you could find one online that ships to India.

I guess there were websites which ship to India but then again it was coming out to be too costly . :(

looking at this BIOS updates
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_...

I notice that both of them were meant to support more CPUs
one was for 45nm CPUS
the other for 1333mhz FSB CPUs
so that is a good sign that a E7500 would work
it would be nice to see a more detailed description of the BIOS updates

I think that contacting Biostar technical support is your smartest option
usually sending an email is the best choice
and keep it simple

To Tech Support,

I wanted to know if my Biostar 945GC-M7 TE will support a Core2 Duo E7500 2.93ghz 1066mhz FSB 65 watt TDP 45nm CPU with latest BIOS updates?
I am a long time Biostar motherboard buyer and think your products are great.
For my next upgrade it will definitley be another Biostar motherboard.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated
Thank you
