6870X2 TriFire PSU requirement?

Managed to get my hands on a cheap 6870X2 which I've installed and been running with no major issues aside from a bit of micro stuttering.

Now, after reading Tom's article on it, I was curious to try getting a single 6870 and running it in TriFire but I'm thinking my current power supply probably won't cut it.

Specs as follows:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE @ 3.8ghz (Stock Voltage)
Hyper 212+ w/ 2x120mm 1600rpm Scythes.
Asus Essence STX
4GB Corsair (1600MHz) DDR3
MSI 890FX GD-70
Corsair HX 750w
Silverstone FT02 (3x180mm 1x120mm)
2x OCZ Vertex II 60G SSD 1x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Would I bet able to get away with it? Or would an 850w be the required safe minimum?

Solution
It would depend on how many amps you have on your +12V rail on your current PSU. Your CPU + 3 6870 GPUs would run 599 Watts or 49.9A on its own. If your +12V rail(s) can produce about 55 to 60A or more, you might be able to get away with your current power supply, though you might be pushing it close to the limit. If not, upgrading to an 850 Watt unit would probably work.

Thanks a lot for the advice. Checked my power supply specs and looks like my Power Supply can handle up to 62A so I think it might be pushing it. Will probably grab an 850w which can handle up to 70A to be on the safe side.
