So I am needing advice should I go with an i-5 2500k with a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD or should I go with a i7 2600k without the SSD? The SSD would be just for the operating system.
I plan on using a ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 with 8GB 1600 G.Skill Ripjaw.
Just looking for the combination that I would be happiest with. The i7 would come in handy with some of the blu-ray conversions I do.
If this is generally a gaming build, then the 2500K/SSD is definitely the better choice. The performance will be roughly equal in gaming. The Blu-Ray times won't be too different, and if your job doesn't depend on quick transcodes a few seconds won't really matter. The SSD, on the other hand, really will make a difference.

For the most part it is a gaming build, I usually only convert blu-rays every so often.
I usually use gigabyte boards but I have been considering using this board ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 as a cheaper alternative. Recommended or stick with the gigabyte's?
