so I have an i7 860 but I have to buy the motherboard, I was wondering if I should sell it and go sandy bridge or ivy or just buy a evga ftw p55 recertfied mobo with 2 year extended warranty for 100 dollars off new egg, if I go sandy or ivy I want a black or red mobo which go for around 200-300 dollars. I also have an athlon ii x4 I can sell for 70
so basically going i7 860 = I spend 30$
sandy = selling i7860 and atjlong and get 220$ = spending 200-300ish dollars
ivy = prolly a little more then sandy

What are you looking at getting for a GPU setup?

The i7-860 plus some overclocking is still a mighty fine CPU for gaming, and can handle just about any GPU setup out there.

If it can make you last til Haswell (Intel's new CPU arch next year) or later then it could be a good $30 investment. :)

+1.
Too bad the OP was not able to use this processor when it is in its prime.
