Memory issue

Recently i bought new memory for my first time build, i got Corsair Vengeance 16 gb and on newegg i read that its speed is 1600
My computer freezes randomly, maybe once a week, and i read that its a memory problem.
What should I do???
Should I go to bios and set it up to 1600???
Will it get hot???

My specs just in case:
CPU: i5 3570k
GPU: MSI Gtx 660 ti
MOBO: Asus P8Z77 with UEFI BIOS
PSU: Thermaltake 680w
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8gb)
Case: Azza Solano 1000

To check for memory problems http://www.memtest.org/
With your setup it should default to 1600 anyway.

There are different versions by any chance do you know if theres a difference??? Which one is better???
