I am in need of some advice on building a system strictly for Counterstrike. I have decided to go with the AMD Tbird 1GHz. What board, how much memory and what type, HDD, etc..? I have a Leadtek GeForce 256 DDR 32mb that I am going to initially use. Please Help!!!! I am going to build it in two weeks. Thanks!
If you're really JUST using it for C-strike, you could save money by getting a duron. that gfx card should be fine. given the low prices on ram, get 256 mb. I have a PII300 and an old, slow 8mb gfx card, but with the 256 of ram counterstrike runs fine (generally around 25 fps, never drops below 15. definitely playable), even at 1024x768.
so just get a duron 600, maybe OC to 800 or so, and you should run c-strike at any res. with that card at more fps than your monitor can refresh. as far as HD goes, anything should be fine. size won't be an issue (unless you want to go ahead and use it as an mp3 storage system too), so go ahead and get 7200rpm. make sure you have a good internet connection, too.
if, that is, you're really only using it for counterstrike.
