I5-3570K on H61 chipset motherboard

Hi there,

I'm about to upgrade my current pc with an i5-3570K, and this motherboard:

I know that the H61 mobo's don't support overclocking, but my question is whether the motherboard will support the CPU not overclocked at all?

The reason I am buying the unlocked version is because there is an offer which makes the locked and unlocked version the same price, so why not buy the unlocked version just in case i want to overclock in the future.

  1. It requires a bios update (2012.10.12), it's risky.

    Get a better mobo : http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-B75MA-P45-Motherboard-Intel-Processor/dp/B007PKDU4G/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1356889837&sr=1-2

That one has four dimm slots and 100% compatibility with that cpu out of the box.
That's if you don't have the h61, if you already have the mobo and a previous cpu you just need to flash the bios.
  2. Thanks for the reply,

I haven't bought anything yet, so I've got plenty of time to change my mind.

I've just been looking up all the different chipsets, so would this mobo be a good choice?

  3. Yes, that one is 100% compatible with the i5-3570k out of the box.
    But i recommend a z77 one : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GA-Z77-DS3H-SKT-1155-Z77-DS3H-Motherboard/dp/B007KZQFOS/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1356894578&sr=1-3
