My video card is 256 and still cant support shaders 3 0? why?

i have read that 256mb video cards can support shaders model 3.0
but mine cant can anyone help me ?

    Where did you hear that? That would be like saying all cars with 4.2 liter engines can carry 8 people. Just knowing the amount of RAM a card has does would not have any bearing on what it's capabilities are.
  3. Yeah, if you got an old card, then it won't support Pixel Shader 3.0. I think the 1st graphic cards to support Pixel Shader 3.0 was back in 2003 / 2004. I think it was the ATI Radeon X1xxx series (X1300, X1600, X1900, etc.) and nVidia GeForce 6xxx series (6200, 6600, 6800, etc.)
