Motherboard questions (the start of something)

Hello, i have many questions on my quest to build my first gaming computer. the motherboard i would like to use is (ASRock Z77 OC Formula LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard), but im not sure if my case would work with it. im using my dads case from his computer (he always wanted to build one before he passed when i was young). how do i know if it would fit and wether the power supply would work for the motherboard?
i have many more questions so please help.

How old is the case and does it have a power supply? If it's an atx case, the mobo will fit, but the power supply might not have the right plugs.

it is an older dell shell that is extremely heavy and instead of just pulling apart to open it pivots so it can stay together. i can tell you exact model when it arrives tomorrow (my mom is bringing it when she comes to visit)
