I have a fujitsu seimans amilo 1450g (yes I know - old!). I would like to speed it up a bit to run photoshop with less twidling thumbs. I have upgraded RAM from 1 gig to 2 gig. I would like to upgrade the CPU if possible. I read somewhere that it may be possible to upgrade with other cpu's of the "Dothan" family (e.g. Pentium M 755 or 765). I see some used 755's for sale on ebay.

My question is: Is upgrading the cpu advisable, and if I do would I also need to change the fan?

I know its probably time to buy a new notebook, but I'm a bit tight-fisted and don't want to give up on a computer that is still working perfectly after 5 1/2 years!

Hi :)

No its not advisable unless you KNOW A LOT about stripping and rebuilding a lappy as most who do it, bring them into my shops not working afterwards....

If you did , then of course you need a better and equivalent fan and heatsink or pipe unit...

All the best Brett :)
