Upgrade to GTX 560 from 460?

Hello, I just bought a GTX 460 a little over a month ago to play the Battlefield 3 open beta coming out in two days. I recently checked the recommended specs and see that they are now recommending a GTX 560. I bought my 460 through EVGA so I can use their step up program but its probably going to cost me about $100 difference to upgrade to the 560. Is it worth the upgrade, or will the GTX 460 run the game well enough?

A GTX560 is probably not worthwhile; test your GTX460 first and see how much, if any, improvement you really need. The GTX560Ti, however (that Ti is important!) is a bigger jump. Worthwhile? Hard to say, but I still think you ought to test your GTX460 first. Your resolution is sufficiently low that I don't think you'll need an upgrade. Note that the size of your monitor does not matter; resolution alone determines how strong your GPU needs to be.

It all depends on your monitor resolution. If you're going 1080p, than the 460 will probably not max it. The 560 will definatly max it. Probably around 30 to 40 fps. And if you are getting the 560. Make sure to get the TI!

there are not much difference in GTX460 and GTX560. overclocked GTX460 will easily match GTX560 performance. the only advantage GTX560 have over GTX460 is the former use less power

That would be a very bad idea. At 1360x768 a 460 is enough. Furthermore, as they said, the 560 is simply an OCed 460 with reduced power usage. That's it. If you go and set your 460 to 810/1620/1001(2002) then you effectively have a stock 560 (this is what I did).

The 560 will max OC a lot more than the 460 and still be faster, but it's still not worth it - especially at that resolution.

I agree; i've been quite suprised with the 460 previouse performance in other graphic intensive games.
Does this comma annoy you?,

I also own a GTX 460 1GB....i play BF3 beta on high settings at 1920x1080 with min 30 fps...
for you resolution....you will be able to play at maximum...i.e. at ultra settings with >~60 fps....no problem at all....
and plz don't upgrade you GTX 460 to 560 as it would be a waste of money as you can easily overclock your 460 near around performance of 560.....difference b/w the two is core clock and mem clock....if you want to upgrade then atleast go for 560ti or upper...
P.S. i won't recommend any kind of upgrade as it would be an overkill for your monitors resolution and you will most probably not gain anything!
