Is This Good for a $500 Build?

I was wondering if anyone could give me some thoughts on this build? I took a build that I was suggested and made a few changes. Since this is my first build I just want to make sure everything will be compatible and run fine.

Don't get a CM power supply. It's going to blow your system up.

I have one, as it was my first build, and agree with you. CM doesn't know PSU's. I'm going to buy a new one soon to protect my PC... Corsair make's great PSU's and cutebeans linked an awesome one.

I would shell out a couple more bones for the mobo and get this one, which supports xfire. It also supports the FX series processors, although currently those aren't great for most people. They shine in HEAVY multi-tasking.

Oh, and the case is fine but I would buy this one for a little more. This isn't a must do or anything, it's just a nicer case.

What OS are you going to use? Do you need one? If so that adds another 100 bones to your price.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I love that case man, I'm kind of stuck between the two now. One thing I notice on both of them though, is that they don't include card readers. Does anyone know of a good case with a card reader as well?

The PSU was another one of my concerns as well, since I'm not to sure how I can calculate the wattage that I need for the build. Would a 500w be good for a desktop like this?

It's more than enough. A 6870 can run on 430w and still be fine. A 500w is so that you have a peace of mind.

Np. Case wise the Antec I linked has more fans. If you want a card reader you'll have to buy one separate or reuse an old one. Most are designed for a 3.5 inch bay, which neither cases have for an external accessible spot. You could either get an external USB card reader, or buy a case with a 3.5 inch external bay. Lots of cases have them, just the ones previously stated don't.
If you go internal you could do this.

For the PSU this helps. http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
You also look into amps and things but other people could explain that better than me and I hope they do. 500w would do.

Alright, so I upgraded the PSU to the one that was recommended. I also am thinking about switching the MB out with a newer ASRock MB. Or would you still recommend me going with the one that you mentioned? It's a bit pricier, but if it's worth it then I may switch them out.

go for the Powercolor 6870 as it's 20$ cheaper same specs and has a 20$ mail in rebate also, and I'd change your motherboard to the Gigabyte UD3 990FX board for 134.99 it's amazing + 20.00 Mail In rebate.

Pretty good, but I think you're overspending on the PSU. You'll probably want an aftermarket cooler to OC your CPU too. I think it was mentioned, but the Antec 430w will probably do for less money, and they're efficient and whisper quiet. Use the money you save to buy a HSF.

NZXT does make nice cases (and fans, btw). Bottom-mounted PSUs, top exhaust fans, good cable routing options, and most importantly, they're affordable.

With the XFX, I believe it comes with a lifetime warranty if it's registered within 30 days. Which I why I chose them.

I'd get a NZXT Elite 210. It's so sleek.

Keep both of those items. That is a better motherboard, and with the PSU peace of mind is much better than uncertainty. If you want to overclock I would recommend the CM Hyper 212 EVO for cooling.

I actually got the RAM I wanted. The site showed it was Out of Stock around lunch time, then they magically got more later in the day.

This was the final build that I chose,
