HD 5970 and Battlefield 3...

Hello guys, I'm curious...

Would the HD 5970 be able to run Battlefield 3 on Ultra at 50+ fps? I can't really find and benchmarks...and seeing as how the HD 5970 is basically two GPUs in one, would I get the full benefit? I've heard BF3 has trouble with crossfire...

And just to be 100% sure, are the 5970's Dx11 cards? I'm only thinking about buying it because it is currently $275 on Newegg. I don't want to get Crossfired and unlocked HD 6950's anymore because that would cost roughly $540 and the 7 series is right around the corner...

yes it can run on ultra with solid 60fps but it consumes lot more power and runs hot, my advice is to wait a bit for the 7000 and gtx 600 series

If you looked at specs on the videocard, it clearly states DX11.

The 5970 has very similar average FPS to a GTX 580. However, AMD cards don't run as well as Nvidia's in BF3, particularly when MSAA is enabled. Also, crossfire may still be an issue in BF3 I'm not 100% sure. Either way though, $275 is a good price for a 5970, and it is a dx11 card.

Totally wrong, the 5970 destroys the 580 in BF3 and gets about the same performance as a 590, only a 6990 can run that game better. All the way up to 2560x1600 the 5970 will get over 60 fps average.

Ermm...there are no benchmarks in that article with the HD 5970...running at ULTRA. Read carefully. I don't care if it can max it. I know it can. I'm asking about ULTRA!

Anyways,

I'm probably going to upgrade GPUs Q2-Q3 next year so this is why I think the HD5970 is a good choice. I want to wait for ALL the 7 series GPUs to drop, AND for the GTX 600 series so that I can make an educated purchase.

I do see on the TH article how the 5970 does get much better fps than the 580 but that's odd because in almost every other game the difference is much less.
