Its okay... outdated, but I suppose it will work.

Its better to go for a 2500K (which will perform better than the 960), and a LGA 1155 motherboard.

If you do go for that combo, don't forget to get optical drives and the OS (64-Bit!!!).

There is really no reason to get anything other than 1155 unless you need the PCIe lanes (3 card sli/xfire) in which case you would want to go 2011. You could do better for a grand.

Yeah I would go with an 1155 mobo with dual channel memory instead of 3 channel and the 15-2500k.
my build
Case: Coolermaster storm scout with extra lighting Total $79.00 Amazon
Mobo: Maximus Iv Gene-z $169.00 Amazon
cpu: i5 2500k $214.00 amazon
Ram: crucial ballistics sport 1600mhz 2x4g $45.00 Amazon
PSU;Galaxis 650w 80+ modular $49.00 clearance @PcDirect
Cooling: coolermaster v8 cpu cooler $29.00 after rebate NewEgg
gpu:Asus Engtx 560 dcII Firmi 1Gb ddr5 $129.00 Ebay (new) Browsing ebay shops
for a grand total of $714.00
If you need a hard drive you can get samsung f3 spinpoint for around $139.00 and a small ssd for o.s. and cache for less than $100
You would still be under a grand and you would have much better components.
