Is overclocking my core 2 duo safe?

hey guys just wana ask that can i overclock my intel core 2 duo e8400 3.0 ghz to about 4.0 and what cooling system should be enough for chilling the system is it the stock or have to install a new one?

If you want 4ghz you'll need a new cooler. I was able to get 4ghz on my old E8400 with the super cheap Arctic Cooler Pro. However you can likely get 3.6ghz on the stock cooler due to you likely not needing to increase voltages, which is still a great increase (20%).

Just watch your temps and don't exceed safe voltages and you'll be safe.

I would spend 20-30 bucks on a cooler master hyper 212+ then a 4ghz oc will be easy, just make sure it can fit your case.
