I've built a 1500 USD budget comp and its pretty decent :) Here's some stuff you could improve.
Mobo:
ASUS P8Z77- V (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131820)
GPU:
Nvidia Geforce GTX570 / 560Ti (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130593)
HDD:
Seagate Barracude 1TB harddrive x 2 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840)
1 for editing and 1 for gaming I guess
SSD:
OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227394)
30 GB for quick startup and 30 GB for gaming?
