It depends if you plan to overclock or not. Both of these builds are the most price-efficient among other m-boards with the same chipsets. They also are good for CrossfireX/SLI.
Overclock-friendly board: MSI Z77MA-G45 : $110
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130647
(Unlocked Z77 chipset, more expansion slots)

Non-overclocking board: MSI ZH77A-G43 : $90
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130674
(Cheaper, as good SLI/CFX as the other board, but locked H77 chipset)

These are lower-cost, higher-value boards in their chipset range. These don't include fancy dual PCI-E 3.0 x16 slots or gold-plated components or fans, but they are optimized for dual-card use. Both support ivy bridge without needing a painful BIOS update.

(I'm also new to building comps, but I spent hours and hours looking at benchmarks, reviews, and forum topics).
