I formatted my hd and its dead

I did a slow-format on my samsung hd because I wanted to start with a fresh installatio. I put the OS disc in and nothing happens. Now, it looka like it wants to start but I only get a prompt. I can't type anything. Is there a disc that would help me? I need to partition and install the OS

Can you access your BIOS? If so, enter it and make sure the drive is still visible to the system. Change boot up order from HDD being first to the Optical drive being first. Save and restart and see what happens.
