DP965LT motherboard
2x2gb team elite ddr2 800 mhz ram
radeon 7770 vga
works fine with 1 stick of ram but when 2nd is added wont boot
both sticks work individually so they arent broken
very frustrating, if anyone has an idea please let me know

With one stick insterted, go into the bios and look for the setting to reduce total memory for windows install. Its an old feature that isnt used anymore, but that motherboard should have it in the settings.
If that doesnt work, try different combinations with the slots, you may have to match the ram into the corresponding colored slot (ie blue to blue and white to white) as many of the older motherboards we setup for that.

Yes, you can achieve 4GB, but according to the chart (http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dp965..., look at the last line) only by using 1GB dimms of ddr2 800. Apparently, 2gb sticks are only supported at 533 or 667Mhz. Make sure you have the most recent bios version, and if necessary (I know most Intel boards with 965 chipset give you the option to override the automatic DRAM settings) manually set the memory to run at 667Mhz. I have a DQ965GF and had to do this to achieve 6GB using 2 x 2gb and 2 x 1gb
