Hello, I built a budget PC for a friend with a successful first boot about 5-6 months ago. Until an incident, everything ran fine, all ram was detected and GPU/CPU were set up fine. A few days ago he told me he was just watching videos when he saw smoke coming from the computer, which he immediately shut off. I assumed the power supply was faulty, but when I came over to check it out, the burns were minor. The PSU had no damage at all and tested okay on a multimeter. When I tried to boot the PC, all the case lights and fans would turn on including CPU and GPU. Motherboard power indicator is lit green (with power). No POST LEDs are lit except for the CPU. I reapplied thermal paste and re-installed the CPU, checked for bent pins, everything looked okay. There are no start up beeps and I am completely lost from here. Any suggestions? Asus won't cover the board since it's there's a tiny burn mark. I've been shorting the power and trying to fix the board on a cardboard box out of the case.
