Help needed HP Pavilion g6-1187sa

I recently purchased an upgrade for the memory of my HP Pavilion g6-1187sa. I used a crucial scan to ensure my laptop was compatible and they guaranteed it would work. I have tried everything to get it to work, but nothing is working. After looking at the HP website, they say the maximum memory is 4gb. However, crucial said the maximum was 8gb (2x4gb). There are also two slots for memory and only 1 is being used. Why would they make two slots if you can only have 1?

Also, crucial recommended me this:
Module Size: 8GB Kit (4GBx2)
Package: 204-pin SODIMM
Feature: DDR3 PC3-10600
Specs: DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.35V • 512Meg x 64 •

However, my current memory is running at 1066mhz at 1.5V. Usually you are able to change these settings in the BIOS, but as it is a HP laptop, I am having a lot of trouble.

So my first question is, is my laptop capable of running 8gb?

My second question is, will it run the recommended memory at 1333mhz with 1.35v

Since you put your personal email address up there, I tried to contact you there but thought I'd duplicate the info here.....

How much RAM is currently installed?
Here is the information straight from HP, which doesn’t specify if each slot is 4GB or if that’s max.

Memory 4 GB DDR3
Memory Max Upgradeable to 4 GB DDR3

Also, when you look in Computer properties, does it say you have a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system? You need 64-bit OS to use more than 4GB of RAM anyhow.

RAM manufacturers like Crucial say:

HP/Compaq Pavilion g6-1187sa Memory
Maximum Memory: 8gb
Base Memory: 2gb (Removable)
Upgrade Sockets: 2 (2 banks of 1)

Here is what I would buy:

I cannot guarantee anything, but the reviews say people have used this successfully in G6 HP laptops.

Hope this helps!
