Hello, I know pretty much zero about all of the mechanics of computers etc. and I'm planning on getting a new computer (mainly for gaming use) and i came across Maingear website.

I selected the F131 and began the process of picking all the components i wanted included.

This is what i came up with -

Gigabyte® Z68XP-UD5-B3 Featuring USB 3.0, SATA 6G, Lucid Virtu
Intel® Core™ i7 2600K 3.4GHz/3.8GHz Turbo 8MB L3 Cache GT2
MAINGEAR EPIC 120 Supercooler
Intel® Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking
16GB Corsair® Vengeance™ DDR3-1600 (4x4GB)
NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 560 Ti 1GB GDDR5 w/PhysX
850 Watt Seasonic® X-850 80+ Gold Certified Modular Power Supply ROHS
80GB Intel® 320 Series SSD (w/ TRIM)
2.0TB Western Digital Caviar Black SATA 6G 7200rpm 64MB Cache
8X Lite-On Blu-ray Reader and DVD Lightscribe Combo Drive with Software
Asus Xonar DX 7.1 Surround PCI-E
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Microsoft Security Essentials
20" Asus® VH202T-P 1600x900 LCD
Logitech Z313 2.1 Speakers with Subwoofer

With a free copy of the new Batman game included

All for $2747. Is this a good deal?

First, a computer is not a mechanical device :p

Second, that system would cost less than $1500 in parts (I'd guess off the top of my head). You decide if it's a good deal.

I also want to add, that unless you plan on rendering, video editing, or encoding anything, the 2600K is an absolute waste of money for gaming. You'll want a PC that utilizes the 2500K. Second, 16 GB of RAM is also a waste for gaming. You'll be fine for several years with just 8 GB of RAM. Unless you plan on, again, rendering or video editing, or making a RAMDISK.

That 20" ASUS monitor... why? Why not a 23" monitor that has 1920 x 1080 resolution? Even a 20" or 21" monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution?

IMO, this system is junk for the price. As Finneous said, that system costs less than $1,500 if you did it yourself. And normally I don't do this, normally I believe in its up to the person to decide in the value, but this time I have to say that, no, you don't have a say in whether or not this is a good deal. Its a crap deal.

Now if you still want to buy it, sure, its your money. Just so you are aware, I can build you a better machine and charge you less than that. I'll even throw in free shipping, lol.

Edit: And just to be clear; if you buy this, its your choice. I won't bash you, hate you, call you names. I simply stand by the side of saying, its not a good deal. That is all.

Do you really need the monitor and the speakers? IMO, you should drop the i7 to i5 2500K, the RAM to 8GB, the PSU to 650W and upgrade the 560 Ti with the leftover. Try to find the equivalent spec in the list with what I give.
