I am in dire need of a new PSU which I can order right this very second, I was looking at the XFX 650W XXX Edition Modular PSU and I was going to order it at £76 but now the shipping is £15 aswell ontop of that. I'm not too sure how much power I will actually need and this is why I am questioning getting a high Wattage expensive PSU, My budget would be under the £70 mark most likely as I dont want to go too steep for a PSU:

Specs:
AMD ATHLON II X3 450
ASUS M5A78LM/USB3
XFX RADEON HD 5870 or maybe the new 7800 series or 6870.
250GB MDT HDD
SONY DVD BURNER

I have not purchased a GPU yet but I found the 5870 at £144 which is very good value from a good website.
My MOBO does not have dual PCIE X16 slots and I wouldn't be crossfiring GPU's anyway.

If the price is good enough and I have a few pound left over I will spend it on maybe some cathodes or put it towards the money for buying a GPU.
But, moral of the story, what wattage am I looking at for a PSU, any choices?

P.S My case is Sharkoon T9 ATX Green with green LED fans so that was another reason why I was looking at the XFX 650W XXX Edition as some of them come with the Green Fan although you wouldn't see it anyway as my PSU is mounted at the bottom.

Thanks all, Much appreciated

Sam. :D

about 550w watts would be enough but you should get something around 700w if you are going to have the 7800's series

The new 7800 series should use less power than a 5870.
