I just recently acquired a powercolor hd6850 (in the future I'm planning to probably crossfire it).

The issue I am having right now is determining if this card is defective or not.

Here is what I know.

1. The fan on the card spins
2. Everything is plugged in correctly (its seated properly and 6 pin connected too)
3. The computer automatically restarts the moment before it boots up the windows logo (this is the problem here)
4. The computer will successfully boot into windows if it is on safe mode.
5. Not a PSU issue, I just installed a corsair 850w PSU recently.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

What other hardware? Maybe a BIOS update for the motherboard.

Yeah, that is a great idea. Are you using PCI 1.x?

Could be you just need to install the drivers for the new card. It boots in safe mode which is minimum drivers, while in safe mode try installing/downloading and installing the new drivers for the card and reboot. Worth a shot anyway.
