Forum Systems : New Build Starting A Build

Hello,
I have been debating for sometime now on which motherboard and processor to get.
With so many variations out there it can be a little overwhelming. What I am trying to achieve is a high performance desktop PC , But not a gaming Rig at this point. I am looking for a solid mutimedia setup at the same time double as a office work horse.
And last , I want the ability to upgrade in the future.
This is the set up I am thinking of building.
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor FD4100WMGUSB
3 . WD 1 tb hard drives set up raid 5
16 gig ddr3-1333 ( pc3-10600 )
630w PSU
ge force gtx 550ti amp video card.
Will I get what I am aiming for with this set up.

well if you want a solid multimedia experience, and ofice workhorse you are massively overspecced.

if you upgraded the 550ti to a 560ti then you'd have the gaming machine you are hinting at. Llano A6 and you won't even need the GPU.

what do you do with it in the 'office' world, what do you do with it in the 'multimedia' world? they mean a lot of different things to different people.

Basically- Video Streaming , Video Conference , Multi Programs open at one time. Using three displays. I am a HVAC Contractor. Most of the time I will have Quick Books , Microsoft Office - ( Outlook ) and be online with customers and suppliers at the same time. I upload and download photos , video and house plans. I have found that the computer I have is not up to the multi-tasking. I also like to watch Net Flix and I download I tunes. I am a novice gamer. But , I would like to try some of the newer games that are becoming available.

check out the AMd gpu's they cope a little better wth three screens. I'd suggest a quick OS storage system, like an crucial M4 or something, only 128GB, and then data on a raid 5 setup, and a backup onto a NAS or other PC. SO you can recover OS and data. The reasoning behind the SSD is that its responsiveness will stop any of the many programs you'll have open hogging the disk enough to degrade performance.

Why AMD for the cpu? I5-2400/2300 will be plenty and run cooler and quieter (which i'd find important in a office machine.
