Compaq Armada 7350MT - dead? unless...

I have an old P133 Compaq Armada 7350MT and it will not turn on? The last time it worked was over a year ago, at which time, everything seemed to be completely intact (except the annoyance of that uncontrollable mouse nipple in the middle of the keyboard) Any suggestions?

Here is what I've tried to no avail:
plugging it in to a power outlet - the transformer gets warm
taking out the batter and putting it back in
tested the power cord and transformer for proper voltage (it was fine according to an electrician)

I'm not very versed in the notebook arena, so I don't even know where else to begin... I am A+ certified, if that provides any measure of what I might know about PCs... the notebooks just seem to be an integrated beast!!
