im building a computer, i thought i had ddr3 ram but turns out it was ddr2. i have everything installed, and the ram is coming monday through amazon. Do I need ram to do a test boot, cause I just wanna know if the mobo or cpu is defective. I cant get an image on the screen but im not sure you have to have ram to do it.

Solution
Without RAMs the system does not boot. If a case speaker (beeper) is connected, when starting you should get the beeps signaling that no RAMs are installed. This would be a sign that the board and the CPU do work.
