Problem with my DVD-writer under Windows 7 (with Nero 9)

DVD has stoped working. reports as empty. have swapped with another thinking it a hardware issue but the new one reports same. have rebooted pc several times tried removing drivers but all have same result. anyway to remove drivers and force windows to install new ones

Uninstall it in the device manager then reboot computer.
