Im in the search of getting a computer and I came across building my own, Ive considered it before. however I thought it was more for gamers. Im a Video editor and I wanted to make a computer that fits my needs. I need it to run monster files and high quality images without any lag on the footage. what areas do you think I should look into when I consider my custom PC?

Thank You

If you're looking for a computer that can do hard-core editing, you need a good processor, preferably one that can handle multitasking very well.

Your graphics card does matter, but it shouldn't have to be that high-end. If you are on a budget, go for the Radeon HD 7750. If you are going to game a little bit and want a performance boost, try the 7770. Both are great for the price.

You will need a lot of RAM if you are editing like crazy. Preferably 12-16 GB of DDR3 1600+ RAM is good enough.
