  1. http://www.msi.com/product/mb/PM8M-V.html#/?div=CPUSupport. the 3.4 p4 is your fastest cpu; be sure your heatsink is adequate.

I have a heat sink and cooling fan on there now with a celeron 2.4, would that do?

  4. Probably not. You can try it with a monitor program such as coretemp or speedfan, but be aware that these generic monitor programs aren't accurate with all motherboards. If your idle temp is under 50c and load temp is below 70c, then you'll be fine.

Would it be better to get a Northbrook 3.2 or 3.4 instead of the Prescott?
  6. Would it be better to use a Northbrook 3.2 or 3.4 instead of the Prescott which runs hotter.
Is there much difference in speed of the Northbrook 3.2 or 3.4 vs Prescott?
  7. Not much difference in speed; the northwoods do run a little cooler. Check Starmicro and see if they have any in stock. They carry new cpus only.
  8. I'm new at this and have a lot to learn. Thanks for your help.
