MAXIMUM MEMORY FOR A COMPAQ PRESARIO

I have a Compaq Presario S4120WM. My manual (from HP) says it can hold 2 GB maximum, but Crucial (and other) memory sellers say 1 GB; who is correct?

  1. If this is your board: http://www.ascendtech.us/hp-salsa-gla-pga462-amd-motherboard_i_mb4hpsalsagla.aspx, then it's 1 gb per slot for a total of 2 gb.
  2. I believe 1GB is the max and max per slot is 512MB. There is no mention that the max is 2GB even in the HP manual so get me a link where you saw that it supports 2GB. Atleast crucial would have noted it if the memory was 2GB rather than 1GB. So I doubt that 2GB will work. If you already have the 1GB module then you can give it a try or you can check the below link for compatible memory:

    Crucial.com
    Kingston.com

    Good luck
  3. I've discovered that 2GB is indeed the mobo's max capacity. Thanks for the input.

If you need me to confirm the same about the motherboard then let me know the motherboard model (only if it is not the original HP installed board). Hopefully, everything works out for. Good luck mate!!
